Pune: The tragic Porsche car accident that claimed the lives of two young professionals — Ashwini Kosta and Anish Awadhiya — continues to echo in the hearts of Pune’s citizens. In a symbolic gesture of remembrance and protest, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) unveiled a memorial plaque at the site of the incident, honouring the innocent victims.
The accident, which occurred last year, involved the son of a wealthy individual who allegedly ran over the two victims with his luxury car. The aftermath saw widespread outrage across Maharashtra, as allegations surfaced of the powerful using their influence to protect the accused.
Taking a firm stand, Derek D’Silva, Vice President of the Social Media Cell of NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), initiated the installation of the memorial. The plaque was officially unveiled by Prashant Jagtap, Pune City President of the party.
Speaking at the event, Jagtap described the moment as deeply emotional. “This memorial is not just a tribute, but a reminder that justice must prevail, regardless of one’s social or economic status,” he said. The party reaffirmed its commitment to stand with the victims and their families, while also condemning the misuse of power in shielding the guilty.
The event was attended by party workers, local residents, and supporters who lit candles and observed a moment of silence to honour the deceased.
