Pune: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, met Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi on Friday to discuss the expansion of the Pune Metro. The meeting focused on expediting approvals for key metro routes, including the proposed stretches from Ramwadi to Wagholi and Vanaz to Chandni Chowk.
Mohol highlighted that the Maharashtra government has already cleared these extensions, and the Public Investment Board (PIB) gave its nod on March 11. The only remaining step is approval from the Union Cabinet. He requested Khattar to take swift action in tabling the proposals before the Cabinet. Additionally, he urged early PIB clearance for the second phase of Pune Metro, covering the routes from Kharadi to Khadakwasla via Hadapsar and Swargate, and from Nal Stop to Manikbaug via Warje.
Stressing the commitment of the Modi government and the Mahayuti alliance under Devendra Fadnavis, Mohol said efforts are being made to fast-track the metro network across Pune. He expressed optimism following his discussions with Khattar, stating that he is confident of a positive decision being taken soon to move the metro expansion forward.
