Pune: A 16-year-old girl who had gone missing from Hingoli was found wandering suspiciously near Datta Mandir on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road in Budhwar Peth, Pune. The girl had reportedly left home after a dispute with her parents. Thanks to the alertness of a police mitra (civilian volunteer), the Faraskhana police were informed, who then took swift action and safely handed the girl over to her parents.

The incident took place on Tuesday, July 8. While patrolling the area near Datta Mandir in Budhwar Peth, a Faraskhana police team spotted the girl, who seemed anxious and out of place. A police mitra, Tejashree Kupre, noticed the girl behaving suspiciously and immediately informed Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme of the Faraskhana Police Station.

The police questioned the girl and discovered that she was from Waranga Phata village in Kalamnuri Taluka of Hingoli district. She had left her home in anger after a minor quarrel with her parents and traveled all the way to Pune.

Meanwhile, after realizing their daughter was missing, her parents had filed a complaint with the Hingoli Police Station. Based on their complaint, an FIR was registered under kidnapping charges.

Upon confirming her identity, Inspector Bhasme contacted the Hingoli police and informed them that the girl had been found safe in Pune. A police team from Hingoli then traveled to Pune and took custody of the girl on Wednesday. She was reunited with her parents and relatives.

Senior Inspector Prashant Bhasme said, “We received a tip-off from a police mitra about a girl wandering in a confused state near Shri Datta Mandir. We took her into confidence and later handed her over safely to the Hingoli Police, along with her parents and relatives.”

The rescue operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Rajesh Bansode, Zone 1 Deputy Commissioner of Police Krishikesh Rawale, and Assistant Commissioner Anuja Deshmane.

The team included: Inspector Prashant Bhasme, Crime Branch Inspector Ajit Jadhav, Assistant Inspector Uttam Namwade, Constables Vaibhav Gaikwad, Gajanan Sonune, Rekha Raut, Sarika Gunjal, Anita Sable, Manisha Pukale, Archana Dhawale, Sonali Bhalerao, Police Mitras Tejashree Kupre, Prasad Bansode, and Kartik Ghodekar.
