Pune: The Sharadchandra Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) held a forceful demonstration outside the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) headquarters to voice opposition to the recent fare hike introduced by PMPML. Labeling the increase as “unfair” and burdensome for Pune residents, the protest aimed to draw attention to the financial strain imposed on daily commuters.
The agitation was held near the PMPML bus stop located at the PMC entrance and witnessed a significant turnout of party members, local leaders, and concerned citizens. The protest was marked by its creative and impactful presentation, underlining growing discontent among the general public over the fare revision.
Protesters urged PMPML authorities to immediately reverse the hike and ease the commuting cost for Pune’s working-class population. They stressed that the fare increase adds unnecessary financial pressure on ordinary citizens and should be scrapped without delay.
Leading the protest was Prashant Sudamrao Jagtap, Pune City President of the Sharad Pawar-led NCP. He called on the media to amplify the public’s voice and support the demand for rolling back the fare hike through widespread coverage.
