Pune: Pune police publicly paraded a group of notorious criminals who had been spreading fear in the Katraj-Santoshnagar area.
The accused have been identified as Ganesh Jadhav, Vishal Raut, Sameer Marne, and Rishikesh Loke—all aged between 20 and 25. A case has been registered against them at the Ambegaon Police Station following a complaint from a 19-year-old motorcyclist who was brutally attacked.
The incident occurred around 11:30 PM on Wednesday near Swaminarayan Temple in Ambegaon, when a dispute broke out over a minor bike-cutting incident. The accused, armed with sharp weapons, attacked and seriously injured the complainant. Following the attack, the police swiftly apprehended all four accused and registered a case against them.
The arrested individuals are repeat offenders with a history of crimes including vandalism, riots, assault, and creating public terror. In a strong message against gang culture, police paraded them through Katraj, Santoshnagar, Sachai Mata Chowk, Bhagwa Chowk, Hanuman Nagar, Shani Nagar, Jambhulwadi Road, and Panyachi Tanki area.
This public shaming was aimed at deterring youth from turning to crime and discouraging admiration for local gangsters, police officials stated.
