Pune: Pune Airport has achieved a significant milestone in its air cargo operations, handling an unprecedented 140 tonnes of cargo within a 24-hour window—the highest ever recorded in a single day.
As per airport officials, the total cargo movement between 6 AM on June 3 and 6 AM on June 4, 2025, included 72,726 kilograms (approximately 72.73 metric tonnes) of inbound shipments and 71,236 kilograms (around 71.24 metric tonnes) of outbound cargo.
This remarkable feat highlights the airport’s growing role in facilitating trade and logistics, with recent weeks showing a steady uptick in cargo volumes. The increase in air freight activity is proving to be a boon for local businesses and industries, offering improved connectivity to international markets and driving regional economic development.
Authorities anticipate a further rise in cargo throughput in the coming months, as infrastructure and demand continue to grow.
