Pune: A tragic road accident occurred late Saturday night (June 7) on Pune’s Satara Road, when a speeding water tanker rammed into a motorcycle, killing a 31-year-old woman and seriously injuring her husband and 10-year-old son.
The deceased has been identified as Roomi Ajit Pal (31). Her husband, Ajit Narayan Pal (35), a resident of Katraj, has lodged a complaint at the Sahakarnagar Police Station. Based on his report, a case has been registered against the tanker driver, Akshay Kutwal (35), a resident of Maharshinagar.
According to police, the incident took place around 11:30 p.m. when Ajit Pal was riding home with his wife and son, Pritam (10), on a two-wheeler. As they approached Chavan Nagar Kaman Chowk on Satara Road, a speeding water tanker (MH 12 VF 9781) hit their motorcycle from behind with great force. The impact left all three severely injured.
Shockingly, the tanker driver fled the scene without offering any assistance to the victims. Upon receiving the alert, a police team rushed to the spot and the injured were immediately taken to Bharati Hospital for treatment. However, despite efforts by medical staff, Roomi Pal succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Sahakar Nagar Police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the incident. Police Sub-Inspector Salunkhe is leading the investigation.
