Pune: Advocate Sahil Dongre, an assistant to Advocate Wajid Khan Bidkar, who is representing the accused in the Swargate rape case, is likely to face legal action for allegedly fabricating an abduction claim. Dongre had reported that a group of 20 to 22 individuals had kidnapped him, taken him to Dive Ghat, and assaulted him. His senior, Advocate Wajid Khan Bidkar, also made similar statements to the media, causing a stir in Pune.
However, following an investigation, the Hadapsar police have refuted these claims, stating that Dongre was not abducted but met with an accident while riding his motorcycle under the influence of alcohol. Authorities are now considering filing a case against those involved for misleading law enforcement.
After examining Dongre’s claims, Hadapsar police found no evidence to support the alleged abduction. Instead, CCTV footage and technical analysis revealed that Dongre had been drinking at a bar before his accident.
Further evidence shows that a call was made to emergency numbers 108 and 102, as well as to the Saswad Police Station Anmaldar. The caller who reported the incident stated that a biker had fallen from his motorcycle and sustained an eye injury.
Police confirmed that Dongre himself had called emergency services on March 18, reporting his accident. An ambulance from Saswad Rural Health Hospital was dispatched to the scene, and he was taken for treatment. Later, at 9 am, Dongre arrived at Hadapsar Police Station to file a complaint but did not disclose that he had already received medical attention.
Recognizing inconsistencies in his statement, Assistant Police Inspector Kudale referred him to Sassoon Hospital for further examination. The preliminary investigation ruled out any abduction, confirming instead that Dongre was injured in a self-inflicted accident while under the influence of alcohol.
This incident has put Advocate Wajid Khan Bidkar and his team in a difficult position. Previously, Bidkar had made controversial claims in the Swargate Shivshahi rape case, stating that the victim had consensual relations with the accused in exchange for ₹7,000. However, no such argument was presented in court. When questioned by the media, Bidkar and his team abruptly left the press conference.
Now, with the false abduction claim exposed, both Advocate Bidkar and Advocate Dongre may face additional legal scrutiny for misleading authorities. Pune police are in the process of recording statements and considering legal action against those responsible for fabricating the story.
