Yogesh Pandey, a budding writer and alumnus of Fergusson College, Pune, has earned international recognition as a finalist for the prestigious IGF Archer Amish Award for Storytellers at IGF London 2025. His science fiction novel The Kill Switch, published in 2024, is among only three Indian titles selected for this globally respected award. The winner will be declared on June 18.

With a background in Physics and no formal education in writing, Yogesh began his literary journey during his college years. Remarkably, he wrote and self-published his debut book while still a student. Balancing a demanding full-time role at Deloitte USI, he continued to pursue his passion for storytelling, eventually transitioning from self-publishing to collaborating with a professional publishing house.

The Kill Switch explores a futuristic theme and has resonated strongly with younger audiences across India. Yogesh’s journey is a testament to how passion and perseverance can pave the way to success, even without traditional training or industry contacts.

“I didn’t know how to start, but I knew I had stories I needed to share,” he said. “Writing helped me discover myself and express my vision.”

Now preparing to represent India on an international stage in London, Yogesh’s inspiring story is encouraging aspiring writers from smaller towns to believe in their abilities and follow their creative dreams.
